THE INTERVIEW
LRMNPC: Elephant in the room - You went MIA - missing in action for a bit what's the deal, where have you been, talk to us?
LYRI: Well I went to Miami for a little bit, but I also shifted my focus more towards building my Instagram presence. I no longer have a manager, so I’ve really been in the cut getting things together for this release. It’s been a while since I’ve released a project, and it’s well overdue.
LRMNPC: We got the word you're dropping an EP on October 9th, 2020 what's the title?
LYRI: The title is “Possession With Intent”.
LRMNPC: How many tracks can we expect to get on this new project?
LYRI: It’s going to be short and sweet; 5 tracks.

LRMNPC: Is there something special about October 9th or are you just about to make that day special with this drop?
LYRI: There’s nothing special about it, I just decided that choosing that date would give me a sufficient amount of time to promote this project.
LRMNPC: Who or what is your current inspiration for this project?
LYRI: I’ve been going through some thing lately, honestly with this pandemic, who hasn’t? But the theme of the tape is me basically having tunnel vision. It’s easy for your demons to mess with you if you allow things going on around you to break you down. This tape’s purpose is to motivate people to stay true to themselves and get that bag.
LRMNPC: Are there any features on the EP or is this 100% L-Y-R-I?
LYRI: This is 1000% me
LRMNPC: Who's making the beats on this one, and who would you like to work with as far as rappers/producers?
LYRI: Too Pluggy consists of two bomb producers, they’ll be feeding me the beats on this project. I really want to work with Bandhunnit Izzy and Jay Fizzle.
LRMNPC: When we say "LYRI's Music" what do you expect fans to think right away?
LYRI: I want them to think “That’s the one that’s better than most of these rappers out here, I know she about to spazz.” LOL.
LRMNPC: Now your rhyme schemes are top notch, like >> "Rushing the tunnels the bundles is nothing/Crushing for fun I go dumping and love it.."
Does this come naturally or have you worked to perfect the rhyme ability?
LYRI: It’s half and half. I do practice, and I do rehearse my lyrics daily; however, I love to read. Reading is a big part of the reason why I can spit the way that I do. The more you expand your knowledge of words, the more you’ll find yourself using more wordplay and constructing sick lines like the one that was just quoted. So it comes to me naturally you can say, but I practice to keep myself sharp.
LRMNPC: Do you write raps, type them on the phone, freestyle? What's the "writing process"?
LYRI: I used to type them on the phone, but that stopped when I got my laptop; now I write songs on my laptop. My flow comes to me faster when I have a keyboard in front of my face. The writing process is pretty simple. I hear the beat, see what mood it puts me in. Then, I come up with a hook, and I take it from there. The time it takes me to finish a song depends on how much I like the beat, and whether or not I’m getting paid to write a verse. If it’s a hard a** beat, then I’ll probably finish it within the first day of me getting the beat. If not, it can take a few days.

LRMNPC: We can't help to see that you're 420 friendly, what's the perfect wrap or way to burn for you?
LYRI: Backwoods for life, but when those are not available, I always keep my little pipe handy.
LRMNPC: What's "fun" for you, what do you do when you have time to kick back?
LYRI: I like to watch Netflix, watch cooking shows, play video games, and listen to beats. I’ll sip a little something and just chill.
LRMNPC: You have any industry enemies or rap foes that we should shame forever?
LYRI: LOL nah, I’m pretty much cool with everyone, and if they not cool with me they haven’t said anything to me.
LRMNPC: Who are you really feeling right now musically?
LYRI: Recently I’ve been going back and listening to older Curren$y records, and Taylor Allderdice by Wiz Khalifa has been running on repeat.
LRMNPC: For the fans that not only love your music BUT love more of you. Are you dating, single, married, or is it complicated?
LYRI: I’m married. His name is Benjamin Franklin, and he doesn’t like to share. And neither do I. LOL but I’m single and focused on this music. Everything else can wait.
LRMNPC: Record Deals, Promotion Deals, what's your label and PR status right now?
LYRI: I’m not under any label, and as of recent, I have no manager. I’m pretty much doing everything myself, and with the help of people like ya’ll.
LRMNPC: Do you feel like you get the same fair shot as a males in the rap industry?
LYRI: Absolutely not. But I don’t trip over it because I surprise them every time. Once they see that I can really rap and I’m about my business, they respect me. Do I have to push harder in order to be heard? Yeah. But my brand is based on being better than dudes, and I can back it up.
LRMNPC: From what we see you keep your body covered up for the most part. Do you feel at some point female rappers need to show skin these days to win?
LYRI: I’ve loosened up a bit, you can see it on Instagram. But I mean, they don’t have to show skin, but some type of sex appeal unfortunately is necessary. And I don’t mean being close to naked, but in reality, most men aren’t going to pay attention to a female rapper that has no appeal to her.
LRMNPC: How do you feel about "Todays Rap/Hip Hop"?
LYRI: It’s getting better. At one point I lost all hope but there’s some good rappers coming out now.
LRMNPC: You have the BARS, the swag, the look, this EP can push you to the next level, is that the goal?
LYRI: Hell yeah, it is. This is the first project that I’m releasing all on my own, as far as rights and royalties go. So I’m excited. Also, I’ve gained a lot of new fans since my last project “Phoenix”. So I’m interested to see how this project will do.
